Common Menstrual Problems

There are many common menstrual problems that women suffer from. For most women, menstrual irregularities on occasion are considered to be normal. However, there are many situations where the cycle experienced consists of several irregularities that are uncommon for the female that is experiencing them.

Due to the fact that menstrual problems may occur at any time, it is important to track the menstrual cycle on a month to month basis so that if changes happen, they may be addressed immediately. In this vaginal health guide, you will be introduced to some of the most common menstrual related complications that a female may experience within her lifetime. 

Missed Period 

One of the most common menstrual problems that women suffer from is a missed period. This type of problem normally occurs at least once in a female's life. This is considered to be normal. It is when the female experiences this condition on a consistent level that it is considered to be abnormal. One of the most common reasons that this may occur is that the female is pregnant.

Menstruation typically ceases when conception has occurred. There are many other causes that may result in a missed period. These causes include, but are not at all limited to, the use of certain medications such as birth control pills, stress, hormonal changes, mental health conditions such as depression, fluctuations with the weight, and even an underlying medical condition. 

Spotting 

Spotting is another menstrual problem that many women experience. This situation involves bleeding in between the times that are common for the normal menstrual cycle. If this type of situation occurs for an extensive amount of time, it is considered to be abnormal. There are situations where spotting may be considered to be normal.

This type of situation normally indicates that the level of the hormone that is identified as progesterone is unusually high. There are many other complications that may cause spotting to occur. These situations include, but are not limited to, the ovulation cycle, problems associated with a pregnancy, breastfeeding a newborn, the situation referred to as perimenopause, a high level of exercise, and even irregularities associated with the hormones. 

Heavy Bleeding 

Heavy bleeding is another complication that may occur when a female experiences vaginal problems associated with the menstrual cycle. When a female experiences this type of bleeding, it may be common for the bleeding to last for a long time or for clots to develop within the bleeding. Many women may also develop a complication that is referred to by medical professionals as anemia.

Complications that could cause this vaginal problem include, but are not limited to, uterine fibroids, cancer of the uterus, being overweight and reproductive issues. If you find that you suffer from a vaginal problem, it is important to seek the assistance of a medical professional.
