Possible Symptoms That May Indicate the Development of Cancer

By Anne Ahira

There are many possible symptoms that may indicate the development of cancer. It is important to understand that there are well over one hundred different types of cancer. All in all, it is virtually impossible to document every single symptom that could be experienced with each type of cancer.

It is, however, possible to document the most common symptoms that could be experienced at the onset of cancer in the body. We all know our bodies relatively well. We have the capability of identifying when something seems off or not right. If we pay close attention to our body, we may be able to pick up on clues that cancer is developing. Here, you will learn about the symptoms that are most common in the earliest stages of cancer.

Noticeable Lumps on the Body

One of the first and most obvious symptoms of cancer is a noticeable lump on the body. On the most part, we are all familiar with the way that our body looks. We are also usually comfortable with how it feels. We are usually able to identify when there is something on the body that just does not belong.

In some instances, a doctor or even our partner may be able to identify physical changes that directly relate to the appearance of our body. If you notice a lump on the body, it could indicate that there is a mass of abnormal tissue and/or cells which could be cancerous.

This is especially true of the noticeable lump is in the area of the breasts on the female or in the testes in the male. If you notice anything abnormal, set up an appointment with a doctor immediately.

Unexplained Bowel Changes

Most of us know and understand what is normal for us in the way of bowel movements. If you do not pay much attention to this, you should. Changes that occur within the bowels could be a symptom of the beginning stages of cancer in certain individuals. You should pay close attention to how far apart your bowel movements are and the characteristics of your bowel movements as well.

If you experience symptoms such as bleeding with no explanation from the anus, pain in the stomach, lumps in the abdominal area, feeling as if you must strain while engaging in a bowel movement, loose stools that are unusual, or any type of difficulty associated with passing stools, it is important to make an appointment with a doctor and discuss the changes that are being experienced.

Unexplained or Abnormal Bleeding

It is important to know and understand that unexplained or abnormal bleeding is a possible sign of cancer. Many individuals may develop nosebleeds for no reason at all. Others may start to vomit up blood with no explanation. There are many that may start to notice that there is blood in their urine.

Many will notice blood coming from the rectum during a bowel movement, and some may notice blood coming from the rectum even when they are not experiencing a bowel movement. Women may experience abnormal bleeding from the vagina. This bleeding usually occurs at a time that is not considered to be normal for the menstrual cycle, during sex, or after the time in which a female goes through menopause. If any of these possible symptoms of cancer are experienced, make an appointment with a doctor immediately.
