There are several simple solutions to alleviating the pain of carpal tunnel. In order to successfully do this, it is important to first gain an effective understanding of the reasons why the many uncomfortable symptoms are experienced. This particular syndrome comes as a direct result of inflammation that takes place in the wrist.

This typically results from compression or a form of pressure within the carpal tunnel canal of the wrist. Natural movements of the hand have the capability of making the compression worse. In turn, the uncomfortable symptoms occur. Here, you will learn several simple solutions to alleviating the pain of carpal tunnel.

Wrist Braces

One simple solution for alleviating the pain that is often commonly experienced by those that experience compression of the median nerve is wearing wrist braces. These assist in symptom reduction, as well as the prevention of symptoms that could be experienced with this medical condition.

This is made possible by the fact that the brace actually works to immobilize the entire wrist region. As a result, the irritation that could occur within the carpal tunnel canal does not occur when an individual performs certain tasks because of the fact that there is no flexing of the tendons. This reduces the pressure that results in pain, swelling, and other symptoms.

Hot and Cold

Many individuals that suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome do not realize that applying hot and cold to the wrist or wrists that are affected by carpal tunnel syndrome are simple strategies to alleviating the pain associated with the syndrome. One of the best ways to apply heat to the wrist that is affected is to wrap up a heating pad in a thick towel and wrap it around the area that is affected.

If you do not have a heating pad on hand, you may heat up a towel by placing it in a clothes dryer for approximately ten minutes on a high heat setting. You should allow the wrist to be exposed to heat for approximately fifteen minutes. Immediately thereafter, you should place a cold compress on the wrist. You may find these in your local pharmacy.

Simple Rest

Simply resting the area of your wrist and/or hand that is affected by carpal tunnel canal swelling may prove to be exceptionally beneficial. Most individuals that suffer from this particular condition suffer as a direct result of injuries - such as repetitive movements and motion. If you find that a particular activity is affecting you on a negative level, it is important to ensure that you avoid those activities.

There will likely be day to day activities such as showering, household chores, and possibly even your job that may irritate the area affected by this region. If you discover that this is the case, simply resting the hand and limiting the movement of that region will provide you with relief from the symptoms of carpal tunnel.
