By Anne Ahira

It is often challenging for an allergy sufferer to determine when allergy eye drops are required. There are two different methods for obtaining eye drops that assist in relieving the symptoms associated with moderate to severe allergies.

These include over-the-counter or OTC drops and prescription eye drops. Naturally, those that are obtained by a prescription are typically stronger than those that are sold on the shelves of pharmacies.

In order to obtain these high strength allergy eye drops, you must obtain a prescription from your doctor. If you are visiting your doctor, they will determine if you need these drops. Otherwise, you must make the determination yourself.

Many people that suffer from allergies find it difficult to use allergy eye drops. If you find that you need this type of medication, it is important to ensure that you know how to use them. First, you will need to tilt your head at an angle that does not allow the drops to fall from the eyes. Next, pull on the eye near the nose. Be certain to ensure that your eye remains open as you administer the drops.

Once you have put the drops in, close the eyes and then blink. This will assist in distributing the medication. If you follow these steps you will know when it is time for allergy eye drops and how to use them.
