AIDS related cancers are certain types of cancers which are known to occur more frequently in individuals who are HIV positive or have AIDS. In this medical guide you will learn about the different types of cancer which most commonly occur in HIV and AIDS patients.

"KS" or "Kaposi Sarcoma" was actually a rare tumor from the time it was discovered in the year of 1872 until the HIV virus and AIDS were identified as an epidemic. The characteristic signs of KS are skin lesions which can be nodular, plaques or patches which are brown, red, or purple.

These lesions which can be single or multiple typically appear on the lower part of the body particularly the ankles and the bottoms of the feet.

Another form of cancer which is associated with AIDS related cancers is "Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma" which is a cancer that affects the lymph nodes and causes swollen glands, fatigue, fever, night sweats, and weight loss.

"Hodgkin's Disease" which also known as "Hodgkin's Lymphoma", is one of the types of cancer that can affect the lymphatic system which causes the lymph-node cells to reproduce in an uncontrollable manner and creates malignant cells which can invade other body tissues.   This particular form of cancer which is related to AIDS is believed to progress at relatively high rates.

There are many different types of treatments for HIV and AIDS related cancers. For the most part, medical professionals will provide sufferers with prescription based medications. One treatment that is starting to become more and more popular is referred to as "Angiogenesis".

This is the process in which new blood vessels are created so that the body may experience a type of repair. Biological therapy is another treatment for AIDS related cancers that exist today. If you develop any of the AIDS related cancers, you should discuss all treatment options with a medical professional before electing to participate in one.
